Melee Weapons Breakdown

Melee rules Enshrouded. Most classes use a melee weapon as primary or backup.

Two-Handed Swords — The Meta

Wailing Blade is the best melee weapon in the game. Its heavy attack cleaves 3 targets in a wide arc, making it equally dominant against bosses (high single-target DPS) and mob packs (AoE clear). Pair with Battle Heal (Tank skill) for sustain, or Shell Shock for counter-damage. Crafting requires: 15 Iron Ingots, 5 Shroud Cores, 2 Fell Scales. Found as legendary drop from Fell Dragon.

One-Handed Swords — Versatile & Safe

Noble Sword is the best all-around weapon. Fast attack speed means you can dodge mid-combo without getting locked into long animations. It pairs with a shield for the safest playstyle in the game. Best for: Survivor and Healer classes who value mobility over raw damage. Crafting: 10 Steel Ingots, 8 Linen, 1 Warden's Medal.

Axes — Armor Breakers

Fell Axe charged attacks apply an armor reduction debuff on enemies, making them take 15% more damage from all sources for 8 seconds. Excellent as an opener against bosses — charge → swap to Wailing Blade for DPS. Best for: Tank class in boss fights.

Spears — Reach Over Power

Scavenger Spear has the longest melee range in the game. Ideal for survival-focused builds that want to poke enemies from safety. Pairs well with mounted combat (ride a tamed animal and spear from above). Best for: Early-game Survivor class.

Maces — Anti-Armor Specialist

Reinforced Mace blunt damage bypasses enemy armor, making it the best choice against heavily armored enemies (Scavenger Warlord, shielded skeletons). The trade-off is slow swing speed — you need to commit to each attack. Best for: Tank class, specific boss fights.

🏹 Ranged Weapons Breakdown

Ranged weapons let you damage bosses safely while learning their patterns. Every player should carry at least one.

Bows — Highest Skill Ceiling

Ignited Bow applies fire damage on every arrow, dealing burn damage over time. With the Eagle Eye skill (Assassin tree), bow damage increases by 25%. A fully charged headshot on an unaware enemy deals 3× damage — enough to one-shot most non-boss enemies. Best for: Assassin and Healer classes. Ammo is crafted from wood + feathers at the Hunter NPC.

Crossbows — One Shot, One Kill

Hunter's Crossbow has the highest per-shot damage of any ranged weapon. The slow reload (2.5 seconds) means you need to make every shot count. Best used as an opener before switching to melee, or for sniping enemies from extreme range. Pairs with Updraft (glide to high ground → snipe from safety).

Throwing Daggers — No Ammo Required

Throwing daggers deal moderate damage but require no ammunition — they return to your hand after a short cooldown. Useful for pulling single enemies from groups, finishing fleeing enemies, or when you run out of arrows mid-fight. Not a primary weapon. Best for: any class as a utility slot.

🔮 Magic Weapons & Staffs

Magic scales with Intelligence. Mages are squishy but deal devastating AoE damage.

Wands — Sustained Magic DPS

Scorching Wand fires homing fire projectiles with no ammo cost — just stamina drain per cast. The AoE fireball charged attack clears mob packs efficiently. Best paired with the Mage tree's Fireball skill for complementary damage. Wand damage scales with INT, making it the primary weapon for pure caster builds.

Staffs — Crowd Control & Utility

Shroud Staff applies slow + poison to enemies in a cone. Excellent for controlling dangerous packs and kiting bosses. The long cast animation (1.8 seconds) makes it risky in close combat — pair with Blink (Healer tree) to create distance before casting. Best for: Healer/Mage hybrid builds that need CC.

Tip: Mages are glass cannons. Always take Blink or Emergency Blink from the Healer tree before investing heavily in magic damage. Without an escape tool, you'll spend more time dead than casting.

🛡️ Shields

Shields pair with one-handed weapons. They trade damage for survivability.

Guardian Shield is the best shield in the game. It has the widest parry window (0.4 seconds) and reduces block stamina consumption by 30%. A successful parry staggers the enemy for 1.5 seconds — free damage window. Best for: Tank class with one-handed sword/mace.

Shields are particularly useful for learning new boss patterns. Block the first few attacks to understand timing, then transition to dodging for better DPS windows. The Shell Shock skill (Tank tree) makes blocked attacks reflect 15% damage back to the attacker.

🎯 Best Weapons By Class

Each class has weapon synergies based on their skill tree bonuses.

🔨 Crafting & Progression

How to upgrade your weapons through the crafting tiers.

Enshrouded weapon crafting follows a clear progression path:

2. CopperFlame Altar Lvl 2Copper Bars, LinenCopper Sword, Hunter Bow, Throwing Daggers

Tip: Always upgrade your weapon to the highest available tier before attempting a new boss. The damage difference between tiers is roughly 25-30% — trying to fight a tier-4 boss with a tier-2 weapon is an uphill battle you don't need to fight.
